Samsung Galaxy Apollo: Turn off Internet

If you are worried that you might be using the internet too much and if you think you’re over your limit, you may get charged so the best thing to do is turn off your internet. Follow the steps below to turn it off.
  • Switch on the Samsung Galaxy Apollo.
  • Press the Menu button from the home screen.
  • Tap Settings and then tap Wireless and network.
  • Slide down and select Mobile networks.
  • To turn off the internet, uncheck the Data enabled.

  1. This doesn't work, my Apollo doesn't have this option but the data option refers to data roaming, ie when abroad so should always be left unchecked unless you want your balance to disappear as soon as you get off the plane!

I have found two ways of turning off data:
Download "APNDroid" from Andoid apps, it's free. This gives you a toggle switch to turn mobile (GPRS/EDGE/3G data on or off.
    2. Go to settings->wireless and network->mobile network settings->Access point names-> select network name and then either modify the APN (ie if it is Vodafone change it to "Modafone". Or go to "APN type" and change it to MMS only. Effectively APN Droid does the first part of this for you but leaves you with a nice neat toggle switch so is easier to use.

This works for me and you can still use wi-fi and make and receive calls etc
